Discussing Chapter 24
I could not believe the scene for this chapter was so difficult for me to write. But, then again, it is said that if you as the writer feel no emotions then your readers will not as well. I cried my eyes out. I ended up having to write it twice after I accidentally deleted it the first time so I had to put myself in it through Remi's eyes more than I had wanted to. One emotional roller coaster writing was enough for me.
This chapter was to open your eyes about some of the issues that had to do within the city. They murdered every single year by the hundreds, not counting the children who failed to show that they could follow every rule as they grew up, and the act of murder had become such a routine thing that the scientists would do it without blinking an eye.
This chapter was also to show you how even thought Remi and Archer have agreed to rise up against the city, and were even out of it for sometime learning new ways, that the city still had a powerful hold. Jericho on the other hand, to show more of her personality and to deepen her character development, proved that she was the most committed of all despite Remi's hatred for her. With on being raised outside of the environment that controlled everything showing that the hold was all in Remi and Archer's heads. They felt they did not have a choice when in reality they did.
It goes to prove Macallister educating Remi on the fact that the city entirely controlled its people through fear. They feared they would be punished or lose their lives if they did not obey.
He took them to the choosing day in order for them to realize this hold that is still held over their heads that they thought they had escaped and to conquer the fear that held them back.

A Reason Behind The Book
I know most Dystopians settle around the main character over coming their government/oppressors but I would like to inform you, while this is Remi's goal, this is not my goal as the author. In reality there is another book to come (Spoiler) but it will be completely different. There is a lesson and a point that will be understood once both are completed. It will not matter in which order you read them.In fact, the order that you read them might change the perspective in the end. The point of writing them is to see that happen.
